The space ship in this scene I built first in POV-Ray 2.2. As an exercise, I printed out the text file from POV-Ray and reproduced it using trueSpace (as it just consists of spheres, cones, and cylinders). The background is taken from a Hubble space telescope picture. I cropped the bit I wanted, then edited and blurred it to hide the mosaic lines. Hubble space telescope pictures are available on the web on a public domain/ royalty-free basis. However, they require users to credit the source (and rightly so).
